AUGUST 11, 2010

Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Common Council of the City of Bloomer was called to order on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 6:05 p.m. at City Hall – Mayor Summerfield presiding.   Roll call was taken:  Mayor Summerfield, Alderpersons Meinen, Hofmann, Koehler, and Clerk Stoik. Attorney Thiel and Alderperson Steinmetz were absent.

All present gave pledge to the flag.

Alderperson Hofmann made a motion to approve the minutes from the previous meetings (July 23, 2010 & July 28, 2010) as presented.  Alderperson Meinen seconded the motion and all present voted aye.

Alderperson Koehler made a motion to approve all claims against the City & Utilities as presented.  Alderperson Meinen seconded the motion and all present voted aye.  The claims were in the amounts listed below:

AUDIENCE COMMENTS

There were no audience comments.
Alderperson Koehler made a motion to approve roof repairs to the ambulance building for a not to exceed amount of $2,000 as recommended by Michael Meindel, Street, Water & Sewer Administrator.  Alderperson Hofmann seconded the motion and all present voted aye.

Alderperson Meinen made a motion to approve a temporary Class “B” Picnic license for St. Paul’s Catholic Church on September 25-26, 2010 at 1222 Main Street for their Fall Festival as approved by Police Chief Carr.  Alderperson Koehler seconded the motion and all present voted aye.

Discussion was held with Mark Ruff and Al Susedik of Catalytic Combustion regarding their office building addition in the North Industrial Park.  The City had approved a development agreement with Ruff Properties, LLC on April 6, 2010. Due to some business opportunities, they will be delaying Phase 2 of their construction project for approximately one year.  They will continue to look at the numbers and expect to do preliminary work in the fall.  They reported that the new building is working out well for their manufacturing needs.

DEPARTMENT HEADS

Tony Rubenzer, Building Inspector – had nothing to report.

Michael Meindel, Street, Water & Sewer Administrator – had nothing to report.

Peter Paulson, Electric Administrator – had nothing to report.

Police Chief Carr was absent.

ALDERPERSON COMMENTS

Alderperson Koehler – no comments.

Alderperson Steinmetz – absent.

Alderperson Hofmann – no comments.

Alderperson Meinen – no comments.

MAYOR COMMENTS

Mayor Summerfield stated he received a call form Preferred Sand, thanking them for working with them to find a location for the business.

Alderperson Hofmann made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Alderperson Koehler seconded the motion and all present voted aye.
