MEETING MINUTES

City of Bloomer

Regular Meeting of the Common Council

1503 Main Street

Bloomer, WI 54724

November 28th, 2018, 6:00 p.m.

Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Common Council of the City of Bloomer was called to order on Wednesday, November 28th, at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall, 1503 Main Street – Mayor Steinmetz presiding.

Roll call was taken:  Mayor Steinmetz, Aldermen Meinen, Hofmann, Jones, Koehler, Administrator Frion and Attorney Gustafson were present.

All present gave pledge to the flag.

Alderman Jones made a motion to approve the minutes from the November 14th, 2018, regular meeting as presented.  Alderman Hofmann seconded the motion and all present voted aye. 

Alderman Koehler made a motion to approve all claims against the City and Utilities as presented.  Alderman Meinen seconded the motion and all present voted aye. The claims were in the amounts listed below:

Vince Findley with AEP gave a report (copy on file) of the current capacity needs for the Bloomer Electric Utility.                       

Alderman Meinen made a motion to approve the signing into contract with American Energy Partners (AEP) for the 13th Amendment to the Market Based Rate Full Requirements Agreement for the purchase of capacity.  Alderman Hofmann seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Greg Loew with Apex Insurance provided an update on the City’s current property and liability insurance.  There was a slight increase on the annual premium mainly due to insured values of buildings throughout the City being revised to reflect replacement value.

Alderman Hofmann made a motion to approve the renewal of the City’s property and liability insurance with Apex Insurance for 2019.  Alderman Jones seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Alderman Hofmann made a motion approving Resolution #12-18 to contract with Security Health for health insurance and setting the employee premiums for 2019.  Alderman Koehler seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Alderman Meinen made a motion approving Resolution #13-18 to contract with Mutual of Omaha for dental insurance and setting the employee premiums for 2019.  Alderman Koehler seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Alderman Meinen made a motion approving Resolution #14-18 to set the wages for non-represented employees for 2019.  Alderman Jones seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Alderman Meinen made a motion to approve a temporary Class “B” license for St. Paul’s Catholic Church on December 8th, 2018.  Alderman Hofmann seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Alderman Jones made a motion to approve a temporary Class “B” license for the American Legion Post 295.  Alderman Koehler seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Motion by Alderman Meinen to adjourn.  Alderman Jones seconded the motion.  Motion carried.
